There’s something extra special about photographing a family you know and love—especially when the session includes multiple generations and the grandkids!
I recently had the joy of photographing my friend Kim and her family here along the beautiful 30A and Santa Rosa Beach coastline. What started out in an unexpected spot turned into one of those family photography sessions that reminds me exactly why I love what I do.
We actually started our 30A family photography session at the edge of a parking lot.
Yep—the parking lot at EDEN GARDENS! 😂
And you know what? We got some really beautiful family photos there.
That's one of the things I love most about being a professional family photographer. Beautiful photographs aren't always about finding the most obvious or picture-perfect location. It's about seeing the light, finding interesting backgrounds and, most importantly, capturing the people in front of my camera.
We photographed different family groupings, included the grandkids, and captured plenty of genuine smiles and interactions along the way.
With multiple generations together, we made sure to get the traditional family portraits, but I also wanted to capture the little moments—the hugs, laughs, personalities and connections that make this family uniquely theirs.
And then we headed to the beach!
Once we reached the sand, the entire feel of the Santa Rosa Beach family photoshoot changed.
The Gulf of Mexico, soft coastal light, white sand and beautiful shoreline created the perfect backdrop for relaxed family portraits.
And that's what I love about photographing families on 30A.
The beach gives everyone room to breathe.
Instead of spending the entire session standing still and looking at the camera, we can walk, play, laugh, snuggle, chase the grandkids and simply enjoy being together.
Those candid moments often become my favorite images.
When grandparents, parents, children and grandchildren are all together, you're documenting something much bigger than a family portrait.
You're documenting generations.
You're preserving the way a grandmother looks at her grandchild. The way cousins play together. The hugs between parents and their grown children. The personalities of little ones who will someday be much bigger.
These are the photographs that become family history.
Years from now, everyone may not remember exactly what they did that day—but they'll have these photographs to remind them what it felt like to all be together on the beach.
That's what I want my family photography sessions to be about.
Real connection. Beautiful light. Genuine moments. Memories that last.
If you're planning a family vacation to 30A, Santa Rosa Beach, Grayton Beach, Seaside, WaterColor, Seagrove Beach, Blue Mountain Beach, Miramar Beach or Destin, I'd love to create beautiful beach portraits for your family while you're here.
As a 30A family photographer and Santa Rosa Beach family photographer, I specialize in relaxed, natural family photography along Florida's Emerald Coast.
Whether you're traveling with little ones, adult children, grandparents or the entire extended family, your beach vacation is the perfect opportunity to create photographs you'll treasure long after you've packed up the beach chairs and headed home.
Because your vacation memories deserve more than a camera roll full of phone snapshots.
They deserve to be photographed beautifully.
And sometimes, the best family photos start at the edge of a parking lot and end with everyone barefoot in the sand. 🌊📸
I photograph families throughout 30A and the Emerald Coast, including Santa Rosa Beach, Seaside, WaterColor, Grayton Beach, Seagrove Beach, Blue Mountain Beach, Miramar Beach and Destin.
If you're visiting the area, I'd love to help you turn your beach vacation into photographs you'll have for generations.
xoxo,
Jamie
