Sunsets, Sand, and Sweet Memories: A Family Session on 30A

One of my favorite things about being a photographer is getting to reconnect with families year after year — watching their kids grow, seeing their personalities shine, and capturing those little in-between moments that become treasured memories. Last year, I had the pleasure of photographing this absolutely beautiful family on 30A, and to this day, it remains one of my favorite sessions.

30A is truly a dream location. The turquoise water, the powder-soft sand, the relaxed coastal vibe — it all sets the stage for magic. But what really made this session special was the family themselves. Genuine, joyful, and full of love, they brought such an easy energy to our time together, and we truly made all the memories that day.

Of course, no family session is complete without a little behind-the-scenes story… and this one includes a reluctant husband. (If you’ve ever been part of a family photo shoot, you probably know the type!) At first, he was understandably less than thrilled to spend golden hour posing in the sand — but let me tell you, he was a total trooper. Somewhere between the dad jokes, playful moments with the kids, and a few candid laughs, he relaxed into it. By the end? He was nailing it like a seasoned pro.

The kids were full of personality — barefoot, silly, affectionate — everything you hope for in a beach session. There were hugs, piggyback rides, twirls in the surf, and those quiet, tender moments that melt your heart when you look back at the photos. We chased the light, let the wind do its thing, and captured their connection just as it is: honest, vibrant, and full of love.

Looking back on that day, I remember not just the photos we took, but the feeling of the session — warm, light-hearted, and truly joyful. It's moments like these that remind me why I do what I do. Family photos aren’t just about smiling at the camera — they’re about preserving the feeling of being together. And this family? They gave me so much to capture.
